London college could merge with college group in Newcastle.

‘A south London college has confirmed it is in talks to form a “distant merger” with one in Newcastle 300 miles away.

Lewisham Southwark College began discussions with Newcastle-based NCG last autumn to explore options of working together.

The college, which has campuses in The Cut in Waterloo and Lewisham Way in Brockley said any merger would bring benefits to students, employers and other stakeholders in South London, and accelerate its rate of recent improvements and growth opportunities.

NCG is based in Newcastle and is made up of four colleges - Newcastle, Newcastle Sixth Form College, West Lancashire College and Kidderminster (West Midlands) College. – Greenwich Today
