LTE Group’s pride for Pride

LTE Group is preparing to take part in the 2019 Manchester Pride Parade on Saturday 24 August, alongside Group colleagues from The Manchester College, UCEN Manchester, MOL, Novus and Total People.

Colleagues and students have helped to plan, organise, decorate and participate in this year’s parade, in what is an important year for the LGBT+ community and marks the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall riots that became the catalyst for the Pride movement in 1969.

In addition, The Bank of England has recently announced that the computer pioneer and code breaker Alan Turing will be the face of the new £50 note, coming into circulation in 2021.

John Thornhill, Chief Executive of LTE Group, said: “Pride is one of the highlights of the North West’s calendar and we’re proud to be taking part as a Group for the second year running and supporting the LGBT+ community. Keep a look out for our ‘exclusively inclusive’ float!”

The Parade’s theme is ‘Deep Space Pride: a future world of equality’. UCEN Manchester’s Media Make-up students and staff are providing make-up, hair and wig styling for the LTE Group team before they march alongside thousands of people through the streets of Manchester, in front of tens of thousands of supporters cheering them along the way.

Amanda Sillett, Head of Student Support, Equality Diversity and Inclusivity at The Manchester College, said: “As a Group, we are taking a positive stance against discrimination in all its forms and celebrating our #exclusivelyinclusive culture.

It would be amazing to live in a world where people are accepted without exception. Pride to me is an important opportunity to change the hearts and minds of people around us and in our communities, we are all unique individuals and we must accept one another and celebrate our differences.

The Parade begins at midday, from Liverpool Road and ends on Fairfield Street in Manchester city centre.

LTE Group is an integrated education and skills provider incorporating The Manchester College, UCEN Manchester, Novus, MOL and Total People.
