Russell Group places in Clearing.

‘Record number of students attempted to get into Russell Group universities through Clearing with more applications in two hours than three days last year... with even medical degrees available.

It emerged as elite universities last night still had places available for some of the most sought after courses, including law, economics and psychology.

Following a lift in the cap of the number universities can take in, institutions have rushed to offer places to students who now come with a £27,000 price tag as fees have risen to £9000.

Clearing is no longer seen as ‘bargain basement of university admissions’ as figures showed a record 64,300 students found university places through this system.

Universities have taken thousands of calls from students through the clearing system as teenagers try to match their results with available higher education courses.’ - Telegraph
