Time to align education to deliver on maths ambition
To truly rewire our maths education, a bold and broad strategy that aligns primary, secondary and post-16 education, including apprenticeships, will be required. Offering clear progression through every stage of the education system, from basic numeracy up to more advanced maths skills needed in the workplace, would create a common ‘aim’ for all schools, colleges, apprenticeship providers and higher education providers, giving the subject a greater, career-related purpose for learners than it currently enjoys.

Learners from The Manchester College, higher education provider UCEN Manchester, and apprenticeship specialists Total People enjoyed the special event at The Midland Hotel in Manchester, which celebrated amazing achievements by students, learners and apprentices from across LTE Group businesses.
A leap forward for education and skills
Organisations like ours need to adapt and respond to sector changes like area reviews, the national Apprenticeships growth agenda, major public sector reform, planned changes to prison education, the devolved government agenda and the aspiration for regional powerhouses.
