LTE Group to run for Francis House Children's Hospice

Runners, joggers and walkers will be giving back to Manchester on Sunday when over 100 LTE Group colleagues join the Simplyhealth Great Manchester Run.

Marathon men, fun runners and nervous newbies will be taking on the 10k challenge to raise money for the Group’s charity of the year Francis House Children’s Hospice.

And the talented team have already smashed their fundraising target even before taking a step, having raised more than double their original £1,000 goal – and with more donations flooding in.

Former student of The Manchester College and prolific fundraiser Kirsty Howard raised over £7.5m for the hospice.

As a tribute to Kirsty, the Group recently renamed its main building at the Wythenshawe campus ‘Howard House’ in her memory, and announced the hospice as its chosen charity for the year.

The runners will be donning The Kirsty Club T-shirts and setting off at 2pm in their very own running wave with fellow The Kirsty Club fundraisers from across the region.

Jane O‘Connell, team co-ordinator, said: “The Simplyhealth Great Manchester Run is an amazing event and loads of fun. Everyone is a hero when they cross the finish line, and I’m really proud to be running with such a great group of people.

“This year’s event will be very special for the Group because we are able to support Francis House Children’s Hospice, which has a special place in our hearts.

Every penny we raise for Francis House enables the hospice to expand the services it provides to support the 1200 family members in its care.

Phil Taylor, Director of The Kirsty Club and speaking on behalf of Francis House, said: “We are grateful for the support given to us from the LTE Group and I look forward to running alongside the team on Sunday.”

James Thomas, a Learning Support Practitioner at Novus, will be taking on his second Great Manchester Run challenge on Sunday.

He said: “The Simply Health Great Manchester Run is a brilliant race in the heart of Manchester and it will be great to run with my colleagues for a really worthwhile charity Francis House Children’s Hospice.”

Leigh Armstrong, financial accountant for the LTE Group, will be running her fifth Great Manchester Run. She said: “Francis House Children’s Hospice do amazing things for sick children and their families, so I would urge everyone to support this charity and donate via our Just Giving page.

Francis House Children’s Hospice is a Manchester based hospice which provides care for children with life threatening or limiting conditions from across Greater Manchester.
