Our specialist organisations – Novus
Novus is the justice sector market leader for education, training and employability, with over 25 years’ experience. As a national, not- for-profit social enterprise, we are dedicated to transforming the lives of children, young people and adults in custody and the community. Over the years, our role in the justice sector has grown and diversified. Our starting point was as a provider of prison education in nine prisons in the north west and Yorkshire. Today, we provide education, training and employability services in more than 50 sites across the UK to 60,000 offenders.
Novus leads the sector as a quality provider with over 83% of our provision graded good or outstanding by HMIP/ Ofsted.
Inspired by our successes, Novus has ambitious plans to raise the aspirations of more learners than ever, and further reduce reoffending. In 2015, Novus was awarded a contract to deliver offender learning services in three of the four Young Offender Institutions in England.
In 2019, Novus was awarded a series of major contracts under the Government's Prison Education Framework, to deliver education, training and employment services in 43 male and female establishments across the UK.
As a major player in UK justice, Novus is a key contributor to discussion and debate around offender management. Recent developments include a new platform for cutting-edge criminal justice research as part of the Group’s work with Manchester Metropolitan University (MMU). The latest innovations in offender learning and management will also be explored.
